Manatee County, FL 2010 DU Shoot

02/27/2010 Sarasota Gun Club The Manatee county chapter of Ducks Unlimited held their 1st ever Sporting Clays Tournament this weekend. 48 shooters from around the area competed for top honors in 4 Lewis Class divisions and “to help the Ducks”. The day started out with rain and was more like an early season teal hunt without the mosquitoes then a late February day in Florida. As the day progressed the clouds gave way to blue skies and the north wind that drove the rain and blew the targets around earlier subsided.
The event ended with an exciting shoot off for the top spot in 2 of the 4 divisions. Hal Giroux, Danny Smith, 14 yr old Jr Shooter Wyatt Morgan, & Robert Fuller took top shooting honors for the event. Event organizer Ed Daugherty was pleased by the turnout and was pleased to report that event was a financial success. He was quick to thank all involved for their help and support.
